Today we had the opportunity to visit the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), together with more than 20 partners of the Tech Tourism Cluster.
The visit allowed us to learn first-hand about its cutting-edge work in areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, as well as its application in multiple sectors, including tourism.
One of the most outstanding moments was the visit to MareNostrum, the center's flagship supercomputer. This impressive infrastructure is a key piece for the development of scientific and technological research, and supports large-scale projects at a national and international level.
We were also able to see the BSC quantum computer, located inside the Torre Girona chapel, one of the center's great bets to position itself as a European benchmark in this new technological frontier. They explained to us how this technology can transform areas such as optimization, logistics, simulation of complex systems and, in the near future, the analysis of massive data applied to tourism.
During the visit, we were presented with several projects supported by the BSC, many of them aimed at addressing social, economic and environmental challenges, from sustainability to efficient resource management or improving the user experience in digital environments.
👩🏽🔬🔍 This visit has been a great source of inspiration and an opportunity to explore possible avenues of collaboration between the world of computational research and the tourism sector, especially from the perspective of technological innovation.
From the cluster, we appreciate the welcome and generosity of the BSC team, and we return with many ideas to continue promoting the digital transformation of tourism from Catalonia.
