Tanquem "La Setmana de la Ciberseguretat" reforçant la preparació del sector davant les noves amenaces digitals

The Tech Tourism Cluster has successfully concluded a new edition of "Cybersecurity Week," a series of activities that brought together experts and industry professionals to analyze the main challenges organizations face in an increasingly digitalized environment.

Throughout the week, participants delved into key issues such as cyber risk, the protection of AI-based systems, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The sessions highlighted that cybersecurity is no longer just a technological matter, but a strategic element essential for ensuring competitiveness, business continuity, and customer trust.

1️⃣ The first session, "Introduction to Cyber Risk in the Traveltech Ecosystem," featured experts from HotelTIC, Neotica and Ausum Cloud. They analyzed the main digital threats currently affecting tourism companies, addressing risks such as ransomware, data theft, inventory hijacking, supply chain attacks, and other attack vectors. These threats directly impact a sector that is highly attractive to cybercriminals due to the large volume of personal and financial data it handles and its heavy reliance on digital systems.

2️⃣ The second session, "Implementing Guardrails and Security in LLMs," focused on one of the major emerging challenges: the protection of generative artificial intelligence systems. Led by Codurance, Nubemsystems and SIRT, attendees learned how guardrails can reduce risks such as prompt injection attacks, sensitive information leaks, or unexpected behavior from AI agents. This was demonstrated through practical use cases in the tourism sector, such as virtual assistants, automated bookings, and digital twins. The experts emphasized that the future of AI will rely not only on its ability to generate intelligent responses, but also on the trust and security with which these solutions operate.

3️⃣ On the third day, around twenty member companies of the Tech Tourism Cluster visited the facilities of the Telecommunications and Information Technology Center (CTTI), the body responsible for managing and ensuring the operation of most of the digital infrastructures of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya). The visit allowed attendees to see firsthand how the technological services that support the public administration—and directly impact the lives of millions of citizens—are planned, managed, and protected.

4️⃣ The week concluded with a session dedicated to the NIS2 Directive, delivered by SIRT, which explained the implications of the new European cybersecurity framework for organizations. Starting with a particularly revealing statistic—70% of SMEs that suffer a severe cyberattack go out of business within the following year—the presentation made it clear that the new regulation represents much more than a legal obligation; it implies a profound shift in how cybersecurity is understood.

With this initiative, the Tech Tourism Cluster reaffirms its commitment to supporting companies within the traveltech ecosystem in adopting best practices and gaining the knowledge necessary to navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape.

The various sessions proved that cybersecurity is now a strategic factor in driving innovation, protecting data, building trust, and ensuring service continuity in a sector as highly digitalized as tourism.
