Les empreses del Tech Tourism Cluster visiten el CTTI per conèixer com es protegeixen les infraestructures digitals que donen servei a Catalunya

Within the framework of Cybersecurity Week, around twenty member companies of the Tech Tourism Cluster visited the facilities of the Centre de Telecomunicacions i Tecnologies de la Informació (CTTI), the body responsible for managing and guaranteeing the operation of a large part of the digital infrastructures of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya).

The day allowed attendees to see firsthand how the technological services that support the functioning of the public administration and directly impact the lives of millions of citizens are planned, managed, and protected.

During the visit, participants toured some of the CTTI's most strategic spaces to understand how the availability, continuity, and security of essential services are guaranteed. Highlights among the infrastructures presented included the Generalitat's corporate headquarters, the RESCAT emergency network, data processing centers, telecommunications towers, digital workplaces, corporate applications, and other critical services that make the day-to-day running of the administration possible.

One of the highlights of the day was the visit to the Data Processing Center (CPD), a critical infrastructure that ensures the hosting and continuity of public digital services, as well as the Control Center, which is responsible for real-time monitoring of technological infrastructures and taking preventive action against any incident that could compromise service operations.

The visit also included a session dedicated to artificial intelligence governance, focusing on the challenges and opportunities posed by this technology, especially in the tourism sector. The presentation reflected on the importance of deploying responsible, transparent AI models aligned with public policies, as well as the role of public-private collaboration in driving a more efficient, innovative, and value-driven tourism intelligence.

The event concluded with a presentation by  Xavier Inglès, focusing on the main cybersecurity challenges facing public administrations. He addressed aspects such as the constantly expanding attack surface, the growing sophistication of threats, the protection of critical data and services, and the need to properly manage risks arising from reliance on suppliers and third parties. All of this is aimed at guaranteeing the continuity of public services, strengthening citizen trust, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

One of the key reflections shared during the visit was that digital trust does not rely exclusively on technology, but also on organizations' capacity to know what data they manage, where it is stored, who has access to it, and how it is protected throughout its entire lifecycle.

This visit represented a unique opportunity for Tech Tourism Cluster companies to gain a close-up look at the digital infrastructures that underpin Catalonia's public services and to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity, AI governance, and data management in an increasingly digitalized context.
