TRIA: Simbiosi entre tecnologia, territori i benestar.

The Challenge: What is the problem?

The Catalan sports tourism sector currently faces low visibility regarding sports activities and a lack of verified data on the volume of athletes in the territory. This shortage of up-to-date information severely complicates event planning and the efficient scheduling of internal and external resources. This issue directly impacts not only the sports industry but also associated sectors such as hospitality and dining. Furthermore, current generic Artificial Intelligence solutions lack integration and reliability, as they rely on probabilistic models without verified, industry-specific data sources.

What is TRIA and what does it offer?

TRIA is an intelligent decision-support system for the sports sector that leverages specialized Artificial Intelligence. Based on the concept of AI "super agents", the platform connects and operates simultaneously with multiple public and private databases (such as Strava, Booking, or Airbnb) to provide an integrated, reliable, and automated overview of visitor behavior. TRIA is positioned as an interoperable tool compatible with existing corporate IT systems, offering real-time insights to professionals to facilitate strategic resource management.

Primary Objective

To thoroughly understand the profile and typology of the sports tourist visiting Catalonia, serving as a foundation for the subsector (event organizers, training camps, and activities) to increase competitiveness by providing an optimal service adapted to travelers' demands.

Specific Objectives

  • Organize co-creation workshops between event organizers and tourism sector companies to define strategic challenges.
  • Deploy a technological pilot project in the Girona area, focusing specifically on cycling and triathlon.
  • Evaluate the user response and usability of the new solution among industry professionals.
  • Extract key findings for value chain actors in order to design a scalable solution applicable to the entire Catalan territory.

Who is Participating

The project brings together three key profiles of entities:

  • Coordination and Strategic Vision: Coordinated by the sports industry cluster INDESCAT, alongside the Tech Tourism Cluster, with legal oversight from SAEE Consulting.
  • End-Users and Territorial Knowledge: Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Ocisport, and Agenda Sports.
  • Technological Development: Inlea (architecture and AI) and Business Insights (data management and UX).

Expected Results

The solution is expected to generate a direct economic impact on companies' income statements through improved operational planning. Anticipating participant influx will also enable more personalized service, thereby increasing revenue and visitor satisfaction. On a broader scale, the project will drive Catalonia's consolidation as a premier sports destination and encourage tourism deseasonalization.
