Data Act

On April 25, we hosted a training session focused on one of the most transformative regulations of the moment: the European Data Act. The event, held in webinar format and led by Borja Rivas, lawyer and founder of Mylegalinbox, shed light on the real implications this new legislation will have for companies in the traveltech sector.

The session was born out of the contributions and questions raised within the Tech Tourism Cluster’s Data Spaces Working Group, where both concerns and opportunities presented by this new regulation for the traveltech ecosystem had already emerged. The main objective was to delve deeper into the scope of the regulation and address the key practical questions it raises for organizations in the sector.

The new European Data Act sets out a crucial regulatory framework for the access, use, and sharing of data generated by digital devices, services, and platforms. This legislation will transform how European companies share and monetize data, promoting a fairer, more interoperable, and transparent environment. In the words of Borja Rivas, the Data Act not only imposes obligations but also enables new business models for companies that know how to take advantage of the opportunities.

The session addressed key issues such as how the regulation affects the traveltech sector, with a particular focus on B2B relationships between service providers, platforms, and corporate clients. It also analyzed the main obligations and potential benefits that the new legal framework could bring to tourism companies, as well as practical scenarios to better understand its day-to-day impact.

As a complement to the session, a visual document was shared, summarizing the most relevant frequently asked questions to help companies clarify their doubts regarding compliance and the scope of the Data Act. This infographic is available above, attached to the same article.

The Cluster would like to thank Borja Rivas, Júlia Forn and Mauro Rilova from Mylegalinbox for leading the session with clarity, precision, and a strong commitment to the sector. We also want to acknowledge the interest and participation of all the companies that attended.
